Astrological Weekly Forecast for May 16 - 22
Welcome to the middle of May, 2022!
What a wild trip it’s been. In some ways, life seems to be more easy going these days than it has been in (literally…) years. In other ways, it seems more uncertain and horrifying than ever.
Yikes, Rebeccah, what a way to start a post!
Maybe I still have some residue for yesterday’s (May 15) rather intense lunar eclipse. Eclipses occur when the sun and moon are close to one of the lunar nodes. A lunar eclipse happens during a full moon when the Sun is close to one node and the moon to the opposite node.
The Scorpio lunar eclipse on May 15 was on the South Node, which means the focus was on letting go, particularly of emotional patterns (moon) surrounding whatever house has Scorpio on the cusp in your natal chart.
A fixed water sign, Scorpio tends to stubbornly cling to the known as familiar. This is not a sign that likes to lose control. Bring in the square to Saturn, which was also baked into this moon, and you get a (in)tense and somber quality:
On the one hand, you were asked to eliminate something and shed old patterns that no longer serve you. However, on the other hand, you may have had the desire to dig in your heels and resist change of any kind, or at least felt very pessimistic about the prospect.
Eclipses are also not easy on the body, especially the eyes (in general) and this time, the lower pelvic area/sex organs/anus (Scorpio).
If you did feel a lot tension around the eclipse, wait it out. Eclipses bring drama with them, but they are not good times to make final decisions or act rashly.
Here are two other astrological forecasts to keep in mind for the coming week (they go exact on the dates listed, but they have an effect a few days before and a few days after):
May 17/18: Mars in Pisces conjunct Neptune
Mars is the planet of action and aggression and Neptune is the planet of illusion and blurred boundaries. The two coming together like this can create a Don Quixote versus the “giants,” which in fact are only windmills on a hill. With Mars in Pisces conjunct Neptune, be careful you don’t start fighting battles based on misinformation or beautiful dreams.
Mars is currently in the third decan of its sign, which is also ruled by Mars. The potential for violence based on unclear thinking is unfortunately in the air with this one – or, better said, tainting the collective waters. We are talking Pisces and Neptune here, the two fish swimming in opposite directions and the god of the sea.
This Mars and Neptune combination can also cause frustration if you’re trying to drive something forward. Since Mercury is also retrograde, this energy could bring delays in deadlines and decisions. My advice? If it’s driving you up the wall, wait it out. Better yet, take the day off and spend it at the beach or lakeside, and feast on a dish made with a predatory fish. Or write a dreamy poem or an ethereal tune with bite and drive. This energy would be good for such things
May 21: Sun conjunct Mercury retrograde in Gemini
Mercury is retrograde in Gemini for the month, which is a time to revisit, revise and rethink Mercurial matters, as well as occasionally endure delays and setbacks. In the collective, this can affect business, technology, markets, travel and communication, among other Mercury-ruled things. In your personal life, look to the house in your natal chart with Gemini on the cusp to get a feel for what kind of topics might come up along these lines.
The Sun is the great illuminator. When a planet exactly conjuncts the Sun like Mercury retrograde today, it is cazimi, or at the “heart of the Sun.” On this day, Mercury retrograde in Gemini takes center stage and has its say, with the Sun’s ray acting as a spotlight. In the collective, this can bring big announcements in any of the Mercurial realms mentioned above. For you personally, it might bring a Eureka moment where the results of the revision process become clearer, a feedback session on the themes of you Gemini house, if you will.
Ok folks, that’s it for this week in May. See you soon!
